This second-year graduate school project consists of three distinct parts which together explore how affordable housing can use amenities and community driven programs to elevate residents’ quality of life and overall health.
By examining housing as more than shelter, the project proposes that access to meaningful amenities, such as opportunities to learn to surf, can foster well-being, mobility, and connection to place. Situated right next to the Santa Ana train station there is direct access to the beaches of Orange County and San Diego. The housing operates as a gateway to regional landscapes and experiences, reframing affordable housing as an active participant in lifestyle, community, and health.
